We know that attending a new church for
the first time can be uncomfortable. Below you will find the answer to several of our most
frequently asked questions about your first visit.
What are your worship services like?
Our Sunday morning worship service at 9:00 a.m. lasts a little over 1 hour. It features a
blend of contemporary and traditional worship music and a relevant message from God's
Word, the Bible. The atmosphere at worship is celebratory and challenging.
Do you have Bible study classes (Sunday School) on Sunday
mornings?
Yes, every Sunday morning after worship we offer Bible study classes for all
ages. We have classes for the youngest preschoolers to the most senior adults (and
everything in between). Our preschoolers (birth thru kindergarten), grade school children
(1st thru 6th grades), and youth (7th thru 12th grades) meet in age-graded classes. Our
adult classes (known as Adult Bible Fellowships) are a little less structured. Most
consist of adults in similar life situations (e.g., adults with preschoolers or empty nest
adults). Most of our younger ABF's are co-ed so husbands and wives can attend together. If
you prefer, we do also offer men's and ladies classes. For more information about our
Bible study classes click HERE.
What is considered appropriate dress for your church?
We dont make dress an issue at our church. We have folk who feel comfortable in
jeans and those who wear suits. Feel free to dress in a way thats appropriate for
you.
Whats available for my children during Sunday morning worship?
During all of our worship services we provide child care (called Extended Session) for
infants and younger preschoolers (up through age 4). Children kindergarten age through 3rd
grade may attend WorshipKidStyle. These children will begin at worship in the Sanctuary
and, about 15 minutes into the service, leave to be escorted to the Children's Building
(there is a clear prompting for these children to leave during the service). Older
children (4th grade and older) remain in the Sanctuary to worship with their family.
Are visitors expected to give an offering in your services?
No. You are our guest and were very glad that youve decided to worship God
with us. You are free to give an offering, but youre certainly not expected to do
so.
Are visitors singled out or forced to identify themselves?
No. Our "Friendly Folks" crew will extend a friendly welcome to you when you
walk in and provide you with some information about the church. But you will not be asked
to identify yourself publicly, wear a badge, stand up, raise your hand or be embarrassed
in any way.
What kind of Baptist are you?
There are several Baptist denominations and many independent Baptist churches in our
country. Were affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, which is the largest
Protestant denomination in the country. Our church could be described as evangelical and
conservative in terms of theology and church practices. |
