In the New Testament book of Romans, the
apostle Paul guides us down the road to heaven.

Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God."
You and I and everyone that has ever stepped upon this earth (except one, that is Jesus)
have sinned. We cannot will ourselves to stop sinning, it is our nature. The
word for sin here literally means "missing the mark". We may not intend
to, but we all have gone the wrong way. |
|
 |
Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death,
but the free gift from God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord."
Going down the wrong road will lead to eternal death. What we earn (wages)
because of our sin is death. This scripture is not talking about just a physical death,
but an eternal separation from God. Even though we deserve death, God has given us
the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is through our faith in Jesus that we receive
eternal life. |

Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own
love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."
We've already discovered that we are sinners and as a result of that sin we have
earned death (eternal separation from God). But on the Roman Road God's love merges
with our life. God demonstrated His love for us by sending His son Jesus to die in
our place. When you allow God to merge His love with your life then something
wonderful happens. |

Romans 10:9 says, "that if you confess
with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead
you will be saved."
Fortunately for each of us God gives us the opportunity to change the direction of
our life. We do not have to stay heading down life's road without Christ. God
gives you and I the chance to turn our life towards Him and His love for us.The word
"saved" means that we are rescued from eternal separation from God (Hell) and
now have a spot reserved in God's presence forever. The Bible calls that place Heaven |
